Building my Wardrobe

Whenever I’m asked what the best place to start at is when it comes to thrifting, I’m always quick to respond with “thrift the classics.” You know, the great button down blouse, striped tee shirt, little black dress, etc. Timeless pieces are easy to come by at thrift and second hand stores in a variety of sizes, colors, and styles. And in the accessory department, I love to check out Etsy and eBay for vintage options. You would be surprised at the prices you can find on designer items from a few decades back, and the quality and timeless styles mean they will last you for years to come. Everything in this outfit is second hand, but I’ll link to some similar pieces at the end of the post, including some vintage Chanel shoes!

Ever since I started to see straw bags accessorizing the cutest outfit posts on Instagram, I was itching to try to make one myself. A brief stint in hat making gave me an idea of how to go about it, and I came up with this fun crossbody circle bag design with sweet top handles. You could adapt the method I used to make a variety of different styles, just keep in mind you might need more or less straw braid depending on what you want to create. I’ve already worn this bag so many times, and I think it’s perfect for running around in the warmer months.
