Last week I went with my family up to Charleston South Carolina to see my aunt and uncle and watch my cousin graduate. It was such a fun trip, and definitely worth the 12-hour drive! I only had two days to explore downtown Charleston and Sullivan’s Island between different family events, but it was so lovely to wander around this historic area. If you know me, you know I love old houses, so Charleston was pretty much a dream.
On the day we explored downtown Charleston, it was raining pretty hard, but we managed to find enough breaks in the rain to see the main tourist area. My uncle acted as tour guide, and it was great to get to hear the history of the area! And of course we had to stop for some seafood– I got up the courage to finally try an oyster, something I’d avoided for a long time. So many of the buildings in Charleston are beautiful fun colors, not just on the famous Rainbow Row. It looked like something out of a storybook!
The next day my sisters, grandmother, and I decided we wanted to visit Sullivan’s Island after an afternoon of shopping. We arrived on the beach around sunset, and enjoyed the beautiful views and weather. Sullivan’s Island is a Revolutionary War battle sight, and the homes on the island have the same charm and character as the homes in Charleston.
I grew up on the west coast, so it has been fun for me to visit a bit more of the east coast in the past couple of years. Charleston was so charming, and definitely a city I’d like to visit again!

Thank you so much Mariah! We may have passed each-other! I use a (very very old) Canon T3i. I think the current version of it is the T7i. It’s definitely an introductory camera, but I’ve been able to learn so much with it over the years!
