A DIY Top Inspired by Reformation

A Summer Project

Recently I’ve been finding so much inspiration for sewing projects while browsing the Reformation website. I came across a beautiful collection of cotton gauze fabrics in vintage floral prints last time I was fabric shopping, and this white and yellow option just screamed summer blouse to me. I decided to make a top inspired by the different design elements I’ve been noticing on various Reformation styles, and I’m so happy with how it turned out! Read on for more photos and a step-by-step process video!

How It’s Made

I chose to use a dress pattern from By Hand London to create my top, and simply shortened the skirt to give a sweet peplum effect. Instead of a back zipper, I added covered buttons and button holes to the back opening. Other than these two changes, I followed the pattern instructions, and I love the sleeves so much I think I may have to may a dress as well!

Styling Notes

For a casual outfit I styled my top with a pair of skinny jeans from Madewell. They are made of organic cotton and are so soft and comfortable. For accessories, I grabbed my favorite vintage straw bag, a pair of brown hoop earrings, and my trusty espadrille sandals. I love how easy to wear this look is while still looking seasonal and fun.
