Handmade Fashion: Palm Print Midi Skirt

Leaf Print

I thought it would be fun to dedicate one day a week to sharing a look featuring items I made myself! The feeling of putting together an outfit from pieces you’ve DIYed is pretty darn satisfying, and this look, one of my current favorites, is made up of three things made by me! At the end of this post, I’ll include links to similar items, or the exact item if it’s available in my Etsy shop like this monstera print skirt. A simple tee and midi skirt is one of my favorite outfit combinations in the summer, especially when paired with strappy sandals and a straw bag.

This tee was a fun and quick project, made from Deer & Doe Patterns’ Plantain t-shirt pattern, which is free to download. I made it out of a very stretchy jersey, and I like to tie it in front for a bit more interest. My skirt is a simple circle skirt, and you can find it in several prints over in the Bouquet shop! This particular version is made of this amazing monstera print linen and cotton blend material from Rifle Paper Co. X Cotton and Steel. I love the way the fabric drapes, and it really suits the structured high waistline of this design. You might just recognize my bag from Monday’s tutorial! I’ve been carrying this little purse everywhere this summer, and it’s just the right size for my wallet, phone, and sunglasses.

The parts of this outfit that I didn’t make include my sandals and earrings, both from Madewell. I love this gladiator style sandal paired with classic skirts and dresses, because it reminds me a lot of the outfits I saw people wearing when I was in Italy last summer. These more architectural style earrings are a favorite outfit addition of mine for the bit of modern flair they bring, and I love that they are two-toned. This particular pair is currently unavailable, but there are a lot of similar styles on the market.
